Nowadays, we are all well aware of the huge amount of poverty we are surrounded by each day. It is a fact that can be observed from the homeless we see every day going to work to the people that appear in the news dying of famine in undeveloped countries. Their problem is a problem of all the human race and the knowledge of this problem is work which must be spread by educative institutions and by an increase of media coverage.

It is crucial that schools make us aware of the horrible situations that other children like us, are going through during their childhood. Ways of making this happens are, for example, offering a wide-open range of voluntary work for pupils in their towns. In this way, they can notice that contrary to their previous thoughts, poverty, is not as far away as they thought it was and it exists near them.

On the other hand, social media has a huge impact here too. We live in a digitalized era. When we are not working or studying, we are probably using an electronic device in 90% of our free time. It is a breathtaking fact because we ́re wasting our time on screen, whereas this could be used to make us know what poverty is doing in our society without us being even noticed.

In spite of the fact that media could do a great part of the job, I would say that all changes start from within, and the only tool able to achieve that, talking in terms of poverty, is people seeing right with their own eyes, that not everyone is as lucky as them and we should make our little contribution to make this change someday. Education is the key to finally getting an empathic society which takes care of every single human being that is part of it.
