Geert Wilders’ anti-immigration PVV party has launched a new website where people can report complaints about central and eastern European immigrants in the Netherlands.

‘Do you have problems with people from central and eastern Europe? Have you lost your job to a Pole, Bulgarian, Romanian or other eastern European? We want to know,’ the website states.

The website is illustrated by newspaper headlines such as ‘Wouldn’t it be better if you went back?’ and ‘Eastern Europeans, increasingly criminal’.

Insight

PVV parliamentarian Ino van de Besselaar told the AD the aim of the site is to develop proper insight into the ‘problems caused by central and eastern
Europeans in terms of crime, alcoholism, drugs use, dumping household waste and prostitution’.

The results will be delivered to social affairs minister Henk Kamp. Questioned by Nos television, Kamp refused to condemn the PVV’s campaign, saying
it is up to individual parties to decide what they do.

Discrimination

According to media reports, the Polish embassy in the Netherlands is ‘not pleased’ with the initiative. ‘Insulting party initiatives do not contribute to
calm discussion,’ a spokesman is quoted as saying in the AD.

Last year, the Polish ambassador to the Netherlands Janusz Stanczyk said the attitude to people from eastern Europe ‘borders on discrimination’.

Over the past year or so, local and national politicians have called for action to curb the ‘tsunami’ of Polish and other Eastern European workers in the
Netherlands. Social affairs minister Henk Kamp even called for jobless Poles to be deported, even though this is impossible under EU rules.

What do you think of such initiatives? Do you think there are any grounds for such moves? Under what circumstances might they be justified? How come they happen in the EU, in the era of political correctness?

Have your say?

It is offensive, discriminating and insulting. It is normal that in richer counties there is a lot of workers from poorer ones put they have no right to be so cruel. The same problem is in the UK, and even here, in Poland we have a lot of workers from Ukraine or even form Asia because they are simply cheaper.

This problem can be seen on posts that are not very popular in these countries. There is nothing to hide that we are talking mostly about cleaners, babysitters or picking strawberries. This kind of work is very demanding and exhausting and local people simply doesn’t want to work like this. Also we shouldn’t be suprised that employer will hire a Pole or Ukrainion because our nations are there known as a lot cheaper and more hard working and loyal employees than local people.

Populistic and stupid political parties exist in every country. Increase in unemployment in the European Union caused by the global economic crisis could increase support for such populist political parties. For the part of unemployed citizens of Netherlands, the ideas of these political party can seem attractive but Poles working in the Netherlands mostly working as menial workers. Poles are working in the sector of the labour market, in which the Dutch do not want to work. I also have to say that. Statement of PVV party is discriminating and racist, because they are saying that only people form easter Europe are criminals and they have problems with alcohol and drugs, dumping household waste. Manner of the work of PVV party reminds me a way of the work of NSDAP.

That kind of behaviour is disgusting. Worker its a worker, as far as he’s doing his job, he should get paid. There is a big difference of salaries around the world. People who are doing exact the same thing earns different money, is this fair? Of course its not. Im aware of that it cant be fixed nearly in the future but cant we just let the people do their work? Employess, pay your employers for quality of their work not for any different reason.

Nationalist/facist parties are phenomena found in almost every democratic country. Mr. Wilders has the right to express his dislike towards eastern/central europeans, however, he has no right to promote and provoke xenophobia, racism and national hatred and this is exactly what he’s doing with this site. Thankfully most educated dutch people don’t listen to his hate rhetoric.

Once again Poles are the ones who are known as those poor and lasy. I can understand that if a foreigner takes your job, you feel robbed in some way. But in 21st century, when imigration is world-spread it’s not an exeption. It’s actually really common to have 2 citizenships or like in Belgium and Nederlands, there are thousands of people who work in Belgium but live in Nederlands and cross the boarder everyday. Of course Poles in Poland are like Chineese people in Asia – the cheapest work group. It doesn’t excuse this site’s language. It is illegal to be a racist – doesn’t matter on what grounds and it’s just unacceptable. If a foreigner “steals” your job – that just means that he was better for the job. Would it be any difference if a person from your country takes this job instead of a foreigner?

These are people like Geert Wilders from ” anti-immigration PVV party who spread racism, chauwinism, xenophobia belief in national superiority Theu attract frustrated narrow-minded people. It’s hard to understand why he is making such a big effort to make east-Europeand immigrants leave his country, why he wants to copture “criminals” from those regions and immediately send them bact to their homeland. In the XXIst century it is unacceptable, all nations should propagate tolerance towards other races and any outburst of racism or chawinism ahould be forbidden. We live in the times when boarders are open, so our minds must not be limited by populist demagogy.
